Chagrin Valley was designed by one of the most well respected golf course architects of the Classic Era, Stanley Thompson. Also known as the "Toronto Terror", he designed 178 courses around the World including five of the top ten rated courses in Canada. He designed only 26 golf courses in the United States and he passed away in 1953 at the age of sixty. Chagrin Valley may be the finest example of his design philosophy of preserving the natural lay and flow of the land. He used his considerable talents to route CVCC over some of the most rolling and difficult terrain that one could imagine. His finished product is not only a challenging golf course but also one of the most beautiful walks that anyone could enjoy.
